See Ya Sydney!

That's it, three months of work in Sydney are over and I am very glad now that it finally goes on! I could save somewhat money, even if Sydney is incredibly expensive. From now on i will enjoy my remaining time in Australia and New Zealand properly.

Today I had my last shift at the Luna Park Sydney. It was a really great time here and i got to know so many great people and found new friends. The job has given a lot of pleasure and has reminded me very much of my work at the Oktoberfest in Munich! Definitely unforgettable was my shift at new years eve where i had to work on on the roller coaster in Luna Park. Right before the fireworks we climbed up on the highest point of the roller coaster where we had a spectacular view of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House! Insanity! A lot of amusing storrys have happened here and from now on I will always have an eye on the small coloured point under Harbour bridge when i see pictures of the Sydney Harbour. :)

My first job in Sydney may also not to forget of course. Immediately after one week in Sydney a got hired for the famouse Oper Bar directly under the Oper House, that was already a very good start for me in Sydney. The work was clearly harder than Luna Park, however, the view of the Opera and Harbour Bridge has made it a lot easier. Now off to Melbourne! But i will be back in Sydney for a very loud farewell! ;)

Morisset Park and the Kangaroos

On my second last weekend in Sydney we made an excursion to the Morisset Park, a small park close to Newcastle where you are able to see wild-living Kangaroos. The journey of 2 1/2 hours is just 11.80$ return and it is definitely worth it!
On our 4 km walk from the train station up to the park we  have once again experienced the auxiliary readiness of the Australians. Again and again cars stopped beside us and asked whether them should take us up to the park. OK with more than 30C° we haven't looked quite fresh any more, maybe they have even been sorry for us. :D

Then finally after a approx. 40 minutes walk we arrived in the park and were also welcomed immediately by a kangaroo on the street. The animals are accustomed person and hence especially trusting, they can be even touched. We have spent the whole day in the park and have got really amusing photos with the Kangaroos. If you travel the eastcoast of Australia you have to  stop at Morisset Park!

Good Times In Sydney

Basti and I finally made it to a Cricket Game, the national sport of the Australians. The match took place at the "Sydney Cricket Ground" stadium which has a capacity of 46.000 people! Luckily we had Lisa from England with us who has helped us to understand the rules. At the beginning everything was a bit confusing because we didn't know whats going on on the field, sometimes we jubilant jumped up although nothing at all has happened in the game! :D
I think Lisa was also a little embarrassed that we always talked about "Home Run" and "Touchdown" haha.
When we slowly got into the rules the game became really exciting. It was the semifinal of the "Big Bash League" between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers. Unfortunately, Sydney has lost, however, it was really worth it participating a Cricket Game.

The next day in the evening we went to the Sydney Opera House where the band "The National" played a concert. One of the best Locations you can fancy! Unfortunately, we couldn't afford the tickets, this is why we had to pursue the concert from the fence. However, our places weren't bad and we heared the music perfectly and we could even see the band playing, free concert YES!

Byron Bay/Nimbin

I needed to go out of the city so i spontaneously decided to jump on the next Greyhound which brought me all the way up to Byron Bay.The town was once famed for its hippies and hippie culture an pristine natural beauty. It was a drag to travel but 12 hours and almost 900 km later i finally arrived in the little beach-village where i met a colleague from Luna Park. We spent most of the time on the beach doing nothing. On the other day we did a trip to Nimbin which is another little hippie-village in the middle of nowhere. On the final day i went surfing for 3 hours which was fun even though its hard to stay on the board for more than a few seconds. After realizing that i forgot my passport in Sydney i luckily made it on the flight back to be at Luna Park on saturday for my 11 hours shift.
